Quality Workers, Quality Workmanship

At CKB, we have developed a reputation for having friendly, agreeable team members.  Our customers feel comfortable around our operators because we focus on hiring not simply the most experienced individuals, but also those individuals with the quality personalities our customers appreciate.  The way we see it, quality individuals are the only workers who can produce quality results.

Meet a few of the individuals who work to uphold our reputation.

  • Cliff Pannebaker, President

    Cliff spent the first 16 years of his career working with some of Canada's best known contracting firms, including Babichuk Engineering and IGL Canada (Western) Ltd.  Demonstrating strong leadership skills and keen attention to detail, Cliff advanced quickly to become a junior superintendent at IGL Canada (Western) Ltd.  In 2001, after acquiring the skills and savvy to enhance any management team, he joined his family in running CKB and helped to direct the company towards the future. 

    In his off time, Cliff, his wife, and their daughter spend time together horseback riding, quading, or working on renovations at their house.  Cliff is an avid traveller, having visited such hot spots as Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, and San Francisco----but he'll happily endure the cold of northern BC to pursue his favorite pastime: hunting. 


  • Roger Krahn, General Manager

    Roger has been in the construction industry for the past 27 years starting out as a labourer for Standard Construction in 1980 he worked his way up to lead hand before taking a position at IGL Canada as a Jr. Estimator in 1989. With guidance and leadership from some of the industries most respected leaders and co workers Roger achieved the role of Project Manager and maintained that position for approximately 12 years.

    During his working career Roger completed a 4 year study at N.A.I.T (Building Construction & Architectural Tech. Major in Urban Planning) and a Business Certification from the U of A Facility of Extension and earned his Construction Safety Officer designation and his Gold Seal Certification. In March of 2007 Roger joined CKB as General Manager.

    Roger spends his off time with his wife Darlene and his 2 girls. In addition to family time Roger enjoys the outdoors and volunteer work at the kids schools and in the community. 


  • Bill Pannebaker, Operations Manager

    In his time with CKB, Bill has held a number of strategic roles----from managing departments and operating equipment to fabricating and installing bollard posts to, most recently, estimating.  In each role, Bill has consistently focused on safety, implementing and maintaining the safety committee as CKB's safety officer.  To maintain our Certificate of Recognition and guarantee that all of our operators and managers live up to our high safety standards, Bill completes regular internal audits and heads the Safety Committee. 

    Prior to teaming up with CKB, Bill sailed the seas in the Canadian Navy for four years.  An enthusiastic traveller, he has charted new waters in his journeys across the world, backpacking in Australia and sightseeing in such lands as Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica.  These days back in Canada, Bill spends his free time hunting, skiing, or renovating his acreage. 


  • Karen Pannebaker, Office Manager

    Karen joined the team at CKB Construction as our office manager, overseeing the daily operations of our business, balancing the books, and keeping the team in line.  With a history as a junior claims adjuster in the insurance industry, Karen is well versed in Workers' Compensation Board mandates and remains current on changes in the insurance industry and amendments to safety regulations.

    Although she enjoys travelling to far off destinations or just relaxing in her own backyard with her family, Karen has little time for such diversions----she spends most of her off time trying to keep up with her daughter's hectic social calendar. 


  • Jodi Kinsey, Health & Safety Coordinator

    Jodi manages the overall maintenance, implementation and enforcement of the safety program as CKB's safety officer. To maintain our Certificate of recognition and guarantee that all our supervisors, operators and crews live up to our high safety standards, Jodi completes regular internal audits and inspections.

    Jodi is a trained safety instructor and implements or instructs various, ongoing training sessions. Jodi brings with her a certificate in Office Administration, as well, is a certified Health and Safety Administrator.

    While away from the office Jodi keeps busy with her extensive family on their farm west of the city. In her spare time she enjoys volunteering her time to the local community and school by coaching baseball and soccer, managing hockey and instructing youth first aid courses.


  • Duane Cardinal, Estimator

    Duane is relatively new to the construction industry and CKB, starting in December of 2005 as an Estimator. Duane has worked extensively in manufacturing, first as an equipment operator and later on as a supervisor. Duane graduated from BCIT in Vancouver with a manufacturing diploma in 2000.

    Being an eager traveler, Duane has been to Africa, Australia, Europe, Mexico, US and the Caribbean. When not working on that next bid or planning his next trip, Duane enjoys playing computer games online, reading books, going to a good concert or just sitting back and relaxing with family and friends. 


  • Phyllis Pannebaker, Office Administrator

    Since starting the company with her husband Ron in 1984, Phyllis has held a number of strategic positions with CKB.  She is currently semi-retired and spends a couple of days a week as our office administrator.

    Outside the office, Phyllis enjoys spending time with her family and satisfying her altruistic nature.  She is a past-president and executive director of Baseball Alberta, a leader in developing and promoting baseball programs on the local, provincial, and national scene.
